Activities and News
  • Congratulations to Tao Sang, Changbao Li, and Ailing Zhou. Their paper "Rice domestication by reducing shattering" published last year in Science was awarded the Stebbins Medal by the International Association of Plant Taxonomists (IAPT). Stebbins Medal was established in 2003 to recognize the best paper or book published in plant systematics and evolution for the year. Previous awardees included Loren Rieseberg (for a Science paper), Jeff Palmer (for a Nature paper), and Doug and Pam Soltis (for a book). Tao, Changbo and Ailing received the award at the banquet of the American Society of Plant Taxonomists in Chicago.
  • Plant Biology is pleased to welcome Dr. Robin Buell to our department. Dr. Buell received her PhD from Utah State University and is world renowned for her work in plant genomics.
  • The Department of Plant Biology along with the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is pleased to welcome Dr. Curtis Wilkerson as an Associate Professor in Systems Biology. Dr. Wilkerson received his PhD from the University of Georgia and has been employed by MSU since 1998, most recently as the Director of the MSU Proteomics Facility.
