Undergraduate Major in Plant Biology (PLB) - Bachelor of Science Students

 

What degrees does the Department of Plant Biology offer?

For the Bachelor of Science Degree in Plant Biology you must complete 120 credits, including general elective credits. The University Tier IIwriting requirement for the Plant Biology majors is met by completing Plant Biology 498 and 499 and one of the following courses: Plant Biology 316 or 441 or Zoology 355L.

Bachelor of Science (BS) in Plant Biology
(You will choose only one of the three concentrations)

Plant Ecology and Evolution; Plant Physiology, Molcular and Cellular Biology; General Plant Biology

Bachelor of Science (BS) in Environmental Biology/Plant Biology

Environmental Biology/Plant Biology

CREDIT DISTRIBUTION REQUIREMENTS

University Requirement. In addition, students must earn a total of 120 credits while maintaining a 2.0 GPA:

TOTAL REQUIRED CREDITS: 92-98

AVAILABLE ELECTIVE CREDITS: 22-28

 

College of Natural Science Requirements. In addition, students must earn a minimum of 30 credits in courses numbered 300 and above with a maximum of 67 credits in any single division (physical, biological, or mathematical sciences) while maintaining a 2.0 GPA in courses included in their major.

REQUIRED LIFE SCIENCE DIV: 35-41

MAXIMUM ADDITIONAL: 26-32

REQUIRED 300+ CREDITS: 30-37
